The world was crashing down around me;

Darkness coming to swallow me whole.

I didn’t know where in the world I could run to.

There was not a single place left to go.

She placed her lips against my cheek

And laid my head down in her lap–

She ran her fingers through my hair.

Her whispered words, ‘you’re not alone’,

Meant more to me than she could ever know.
